Did you know? (Region 3: Central Luzon)

DID YOU KNOW...

AURORA

"Sirit" is the tagalog word for surfing. It is the way of life in Baler.

Aurora is the only Philippine province named after a first lady.

The province of Aurora is only representing about one percent of the country's total land area.

NUEVA ECIJA

There are three (3) mountain ranges that protect and serve as natural barrier of the province and these are the Sierra Madre on the east; Caraballo on the west; and Cordillera on the north.

Showtime Trivia 1: Cabiao, Nueva Ecija is the birthplace of Luis Taruc's Hukbalahap or Hukbing Bayan laban sa Hapon in 1942."

It was named after an old city in Seville, Spain, Écija.

TARLAC

The name “Tarlac” was derived for a talahib weed called “Malatarlac” because of its plain and yet mountainous appearance.

It was part of the provinces of Pampanga and Pangasinan.

In March 1899, it became the first Philippine Republic after former Pres. Emilio Aguinaldo abandoned Malolos, Bulacan but only lasted for a month because it was moved to Nueva Ecija.
